French Polynesia (March - April 2016)

I spent one month on a trip to French Polynesia, where afterwards I ended up working. It was mainly a diving trip, but the beauty of the surrounding and landscape was even nicer than underwater life. If you love sharks and you want to see around 700 of them in one dive, this is your place! Sadly, the coral life is mostly dead, so with the exception of sharks, don't expect too rich underwater life.

The starting point of the trip was Bali, as I lived at Nusa Penida in this time. The journey headed via Melbourne and Aukland to Papeete, Tahiti.

We spent one day on a road touring around Tahiti itself and after we moved by the local flight to Fakarava,  the first diving destination. Fakarava has the best diving in French Polynesia, and also the "motu", as they call atolls, are the most beautiful. Fakarava South - Motu Aito Resort with the best food in the world :D.

After Fakarava South and North Pass we moved back to Tahiti and started another round trip to Moorea (only 15 mins flight from Papeete) and the final destination, famous Rangiroa, diving paradise, where I finally saw my first great hammerhead shark.

The following gallery is a selection from both, underwater and land photos.
