Nusa Penida

(My home since September 2015 - May 2016)

Large island Nusa Penida was my home for almost a year, I worked there as a manager of dive center and simply dive resort. This place quickly became my second (or maybe third) home, and its people and traditions will always have piece of my heart.

Nusa Penida is a truly magical island. Only 40 minutes by speed boat from Bali, Sanur is a place, where people still believe in magic and living with Nature.

Nusa Penida is the biggest island from all three, but there are no tourists at all. The best way to explore the island's beauty is by scooter, but there are many places you can reach only walking, as the roads are mostly very wild and dangerous.

People at Nusa Penida are mostly hindu, but there is a very strong muslim community as well. There is a peaceful symbiosis, you can witness many traditional hindu and muslim ceremonies. It is highly recommended to respect the tradition and wear a traditional sarong.

Most of the people of Nusa Penida are still working on their farms with sea weed. This very hard job depends on the sea tides, and people are only just surviving. But life here is very simple and the simplicity makes your trip or long stay here unforgettable.
